(NEWS10) -To expand public access to fentanyl and xylazine test strips, Governor Kathy Hochul signed new legislation on Sunday, November 19. Multi-year Jefferson County I-55 project expected to relieve back-ups and crashes HILLSBORO, Mo. -- The Missouri Department of Transportation is planning a huge highway project on Interstate 55 in Jefferson County. The 12-mile stretch of road goes from Highway Z to Missouri 67. MoDOT says it’s a scene of numerous highway back-ups and about 1,000 accidents.MoDOT District Engineer Tom Blair told investigator Elliott Davis that the time is now to fix the problems.“Everyone that drives I-55 in Jefferson County knows that there is reoccurring traffic congestion. There are crashes that have been occurring; this project will improve those conditions; it will make I-55 in Jefferson County safer and more reliable,” said Blair.Among other things the project involves adding a third lane to the two-lane stretch of highway. Family, friends gather to observe World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims Families and communities across the country, including locally in Southern California, gathered Sunday to honor those killed on World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.  Held annually on the third Sunday in November, the event shines a light not just on the victims, but on the families and friends devastated by the loss of their loved ones. Kyle Vogt, who is also Cruise's co-founder, announced his resignation Sunday evening on X. NTSB investigators focus on ‘design problem’ with braking system after Chicago commuter train crash CHICAGO (AP) — Federal safety officials investigating a Chicago commuter train crash that injured nearly 40 people when it slammed into snow-removal equipment are focusing on a “design problem” with its braking system.National Transportation Safety Board Chairperson Jennifer Homendy said the Chicago Transit Authority train was traveling at 26.9 mph (43.3 kpm) on Thursday when it struck the snow-removal equipment, which was on the tracks conducting training for the winter season.
