Saratoga homeless task force issues recommendations to city council SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The Mayor’s Task Force on Homelessness held its final meeting on Monday. The task force was created to help the city determine a location for a permanent low barrier homeless shelter.The final report lists five potential locations for the new shelter and recommends a location over two miles away from the city center.  Get the latest news, weather, sports and entertainment delivered right to your inbox! Mayor Ron Kim created the task force to determine where a permanent shelter should be located and to determine what agency should operate it. On Monday night members decided on the recommendations that the task force will send over to the city council in a final report. However some are still concerned about the proposed location because there are no sidewalks, crosswalks or bus stops nearby. The task force recommended the new shelter be located on Lake Avenue, near the Northway overpass. Shenendehowa student charged with BB gun possession at school CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A 15-year-old was arrested on Monday for allegedly bringing a BB pistol to Shenendehowa High School East, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office. Police say that at 8:44 a.m. on November 27, the school's resource officer was alerted to a student reportedly possessing a pistol. The teen was found to have a BB gun on him and was then arrested, later being released into the custody of a parent with further action in the matter pending. Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo stated “I am happy that we were able to get to the bottom of this without anyone getting hurt. Our partners at Shenendehowa and our SRO did a great job and were instrumental in a successful resolution.”

(NEWS10)--Governor Kathy Hochul has signed a new law requiring camps and youth sports programs to have a plan to implement Automated External Defibrillators, also known as AED’s. "Automated External Defibrillators are the key to lengthening the ability to take care of patients who have an arrest in the field," explained Dr. Mandeep Sidhu, Board President of the American Heart Association Capital Region. "What we are trying to do is shorten the chain of survival to get patients from the field and to our emergency department and to the hospital."While AED’s have been already been implemented in schools, a new law signed by Governor Hochul on Friday now requires camps and youth sports programs to establish a plan to have them as well."They have to include in their plan that somebody is gonna be trained and that they’re gonna have an equipment checklist," explained Senator Shelley Mayer, who sponsored the bill. Albany man gets time for failing to update sex offender registry ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A 43-year-old Albany was sentenced to prison for failing to update his sex offender registration information. Burnash admitted that he did not update his residential address on the sex offender registry. By not doing so, he violated conditions of supervised release for his prior conviction in 2012.His actions count as a new crime as he also violated the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act. LOUIS – Police and prosecutors in St. Louis City claim a man involved in a minor car collision Sunday afternoon displayed a handgun and then shot at the other persons involved in the crash.According to a probable cause statement filed in St. Louis Circuit Court, the crash happened Nov. 26 in the 3600 block of Gravois Avenue, located in the Tower Grove South neighborhood.Investigators with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department claim Matthew Senechai, 24, merged into a lane on Gravois and bumped into another vehicle.Two people in the other vehicle attempted to exchange insurance information with Senechai, who allegedly reached into the back of his car and took out a gun.
